Lightroom Classic is not sorting by capture time

Lightroom Classic

Vs of app: 12.2.1

Mac OS Monterey vs 12.3

I am on the latest version of Lightroom Classic and it is not sorting by capture time- it's sorting by filename. I've tried sorting in different ways and going back to capture time. It just goes back to sorting by filename. I'm a wedding photographer who works with a second shooter. It will take a huge amount of time to sort them by time manually. I need this fixed ASAP.

Screen shots would help.

Were the cameras  synced in time at the start of the weddding?

To build on Sean's reply, ensure that the capture date is showing under the thumbnails in Library Grid view, and then post a full-resolution screenshot of the entire LR window showing the mis-sorting, as described here:

That usually gives enough clues to resolve the issue.

Yes, we synced our cameras at the beginning of the wedding and we shot at
the same time. In Lightroom, I have the sorting set to “capture time” but
all of the second shooter’s 30+ photos are first in the catalog because his
file names of his photo start with J and all of mine come after because my
file names start with M. Our cameras are identical and we both shoot
compressed RAW.

So the times are the same when you examine the EXIF? There's not a date or am/pm difference? I've done the latter before when shooting two cameras by accident.

The screenshot described above will likely clear things up.
