Lightroom classic is permanently deleting files instead of moving to trash!

I recently noticed that when I was editing a batch of photos, and was deleting files from the batch I no longer wanted to edit, my trash can was remaining empty. I start testing this and began deleting photos from lightroom using the "delete from disk" option that specifies photos would end up not only out of my lightroom catalogue but in the trash. Again, nothing appeared in the trash, even after refreshing finder and resetting my mac. The files are also gone from the orginal folders they were in. I uninstalled lightroom classic, reinstalled, and even opened a new catalogue and still experienced the same thing. I've never noticed this until now and wanted to see if anyone had a fix? I'd hate to accidentally select the wrong option and then boom! There goes the file for good.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
