Hi team,

I'm a mac user, lightroom classic version 13.2, havent use the software for 2 months ish and suddenly having syncing issue like never before:

1. when i put new photos in shared/synced collection on lightroom classic, it's not showing up on lightroom (cloud), yes i waited 30min at least

2. after i delete all synced photo on cloud, the photo still remains in synced collections in lightroom classic and yes, i waited long enough

Screenshot 2024-03-30 at 5.55.09 AM.pngScreenshot 2024-03-30 at 5.59.09 AM.png

3. in both cases, lightroom classic is showing synching in progress (blue loading sign), but there's no sync activity at all when u double click into it.

What's happening? how to fix it? thanks

Two items I can comment on from your screen-clips-

1) There are Notifications (Red Dot) for your Creative Cloud App.  Do you have the current version installed? Have you upgraded the CC Desktop App?

2) The files  you have marked to sync (38 in the selected folder) are all 'Missing'. Where are these original files in your system? Can you re-link them to the Catalog? Do any of the other Collections contain Missing photos?

Is it correct that you have 1TB of Adobe Cloud storage?  (ie. the Photography Plan 1TB.)

Hi Rob,

Thank you so much for replying my question! Unfortunately I dont think either are the cause...

1. the red dot for creative cloud app apprears to be unread notifications, all adobe apps are up-to-date, as I mentioned, LrC version is 13.2 (latest) and yes, I have 1TB of cloud storage.

Screenshot 2024-03-31 at 3.50.29 PM.png

2. the shown "missing" was because i didnt plug in the external hard drive. the issue remains after i plug the hard drive in.

1) i double checked, photos in all collections are linked to catalog

2&3)as i mentioned before, I deleted all synced photos (1289 pics) and restored them... (try to see if it fix the problem), the result is shown in circle 2 and 3, my LrC says it's syncing 58 pics, while the action says 0 download/upload and 1289 pending... (idk what the hell is going on...), meanwhile lightoom cloud shown all is synced (what a mess)

Screenshot 2024-03-31 at 3.47.19 PM.png

3. as shown below, the lightroom cloud says there are 1289 synced photos and LrC said there are 1325 synced photos...

Screenshot 2024-03-31 at 4.04.30 PM.png.             Screenshot 2024-03-31 at 4.05.21 PM.png

What do you think is happening.... is there a way to escalate this question to developers?

Thank you!

Peter

All your apps are up to date, but is the CC Desktop App itself up to date?

v6.1.0.594  ?

I myself am still learning about sync errors so will not be much help with your problem.

It is often advised to use Lightroom in a web browser where errors can be more obvious.

https://lightroom.adobe.com/

At least your Preferences now show files as "Pending" that might be re-syncing the re-added photos that were missing- And you have photos showing in Lightroom "All Photos" -that's a change.

Keep bumping your thread for other answers.

I can double check after I get home, thanks!

I think it's confusing that Lr cloud says all are synced but LrC says they are all pending (and not changing at all), and the photos added to sync collections in LrC are not uploaded to cloud at all...

I feel u... this issue comes out of nowhere for me. I reinstalled Adobe creative cloud (cc) today and suddenly it starts to sync this morning (idk why).

However, when I making changes in LrC catalog (add/remove pic from catalog), it's not sync to cloud again..... the symptom is the same as you and i described 😞 I dont know who should i talk to to fix it...

I created a new Catalogue this morning and selected a few files to be synced.

Initially nothing happened until I added a picture to Lightroom (not the classic). then it started syncronizing both directions.

I went back to my original catalogue, set this one to sync with web again.

It did not sync.

I added another Picture to the non-classic Lightroom.

In CC I saw this picture coming up as downloading - but it actually never downloaded successfully.

What his probably means is that the issue is associated to the catalogue.

What could be a workaround would be to migrate all pictures to a new catalogue.

I wonder if there is an automated way to do that? I have 50k pictures in mine - doing this manually would be impossible.

Lightroom Classic syncs one catalog. If you change to a different catalog, it will then sync that one instead. The files remain online from the first catalog, but they're orphaned. Basically sync one Catalog only and don't switch to another.

Hello Sean

the principle of only one catalogue syncing at any time is known. this has just been a test to find out of there is a problem with the catalogue causing the issue. - which seems to have been confirmed.

Resyncing can take a long time. Migrating to a new catalog is as simple as using Export as Catalog from the File menu when clicked on the All Photographs section of the Catalog panel.

I did the export to new catalog which returned an error when I had the option to include the current previews on. (looks like there is somethign wrong in the database)

with this excluded I was able to export all my pictures to a new catalog.

After having turned on the sync on the collections I wanted before I'm back up and runing!

ok, so this is apparently the solution then.

so i somehow managed to "fixed" the situation. Here is what I did:

1. Because in my case (maybe in yours too), whats happening on cloud is disconnected with LrC local catalog. Therefore when I delete all synced photo on cloud, photos will still remain in LrC local catalog and collections.

2. So I deleted all synced photo on cloud first

3. Then I started a new catalog on macbook local

4. Then I merge the new catalog with the old one (file > import from another catalog > choose your old catalog), then you will import all the edits you done so far plus the collection structure

5. then u can start to sync this "brand new" catalog from 0... and it works in my case

Good luck!

Good to hear it worked for you too.

I thnink your approach is the same as mine. Exporting to a new catalog or creating an empty one and importing all into it: same thing. In both cases you are maintaining the structure and everything.
