Lightroom Classic has been unable to open on my mac, when I try to open a catalog the app loads and then fails. I get a message saying lightroom quit unexpectedly. I have tried restarting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and resetting preferences.

!!Please Help!! I use this for work almost daily and need to access my catalogs! I am desperate :')

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I’ll need more information so that I can help you with this issue.

Where is the catalog stored? Is it on an internal drive or an external drive?

Try resetting your Lightroom preferences (use method 2):
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html

Copy the primary catalog in question and place it on your computer's desktop.

  • Press OPT (macOS) when launching Lightroom Classic.
  • Choose the option to create a new catalog and create a new one on the internal drive.

  • In the new catalog, head to File > Import from Another Catalog, as shown below.

Proceed with merging the (potentially)corrupted catalog into the newly made, internal storage-based catalog.

For more help via video-based steps, check here. See Merging individual catalogs into a master catalog

Please let us know if this helps.

Thanks!
