I am a current subscriber to Lightroom Classic which is loaded onto my Desk Top I-Mac. Can I also download a version onto my laptop when I travel. If so, How do I go about it?

Yes, the Single-User License was designed with that in mind. It lets your account be signed in on any two computers you control. The two computers can be any combination of Mac and Windows PC desktops or laptops.

How to go about it: If you remember how you installed it on your iMac using the Creative Cloud desktop app/installer, just do the same thing on the other computer. It will ask you to sign into your Creative Cloud account, and after that, the second computer is now activated to run any Creative Cloud app or service on your subscription plan.

In fact, you can install Creative Cloud on any number of computers, the real limitation is that only two of those computers can be signed in to your single-user license. At any time you can sign out of Creative Cloud on a computer and sign in on another, so that you don’t exceed two activations at a time. You would do the same thing if you bought a new computer: Sign out of Creative Cloud on the computer you want to stop using, and sign in on your new computer.
