Lightroom Folder Quandry

Firstly, Windows 11 and the latest Lightroom Classic updates install.

I have a folder in Lightroom entitled Favourites. Lightroom says there are 2,449 images in this folder. When I view the same folder from Explorer, it says there are 2,514 images which I am assuming would mean I have deleted some images from the Lightroom Folder that in error, I said delete from Lightroom at some point rather than Delete from disk. Fair assumption?

Now the real issue...if I go into Lightroom and try to Import images and I select the Favourites folder, over 200,000 images are listed for import. Why would those files appear on the Import screen but not show when I view the same folder via Explorer?

Furthermore, when I select the Import screen in Lightroom and choose the same Favourites folder, and select an image file that Lightroom wants to import...that same file when searched via Explorer and the Favourites folder, doesn't exist. Why therefore is it visible only through Lightroom Import and no where else?

I just selected another file that LR wants to import from Favourites and when I search all of my Lightroom photos, from within LR, the file appears in the proper date folder where it belongs, and NOT in a Favourites folder.

You have jumped from Lightroom Classic (LrC) to LR, and we need to know which you are using. Or are you using both in this problem?
