Lightroom Keeps Losing Ratings

LIGHTROOM CLASSIC is getting on my $%^&@

PROBLEM

+ LRC is losing ratings for images

WORKFLOW

+ import images

+ "Add To Collection" is NOT selected

+ rating are made on each computer

+ ratings are checked with ADOBE BRIDGE (and up until recently changed have registered on both computers)

BACKGROUND

+ use Lightroom Classic CC 10.4 on two computers

+ images are saved on DROPBOX

+ individual LRC catalogs are saved locally on each computer

TECH

+ LRC CC 10.4

+ MacBook Pro 16-inch, 64GB Ram, 8TB SSD, Catalina 10.15.7

+ MacBook Air M1, 8GB Ram, 512GB SSD, Big Sur 11,5,2

+ Automatically Write Changes to XMP" is TURNED OFF on both machines ("advice" of ADOBE "expert")

Thoughts? Assistance would be MOST APPRECIATED!

In order to see the LrC ratings made on both computers you need to use Save Metadata to File after adding an edit and then Read Metadata from File on the other computer. There are also some limitations concerning the XMP data that is transferred.

Automatically Write Changes to XMP" is TURNED OFF on both machines ("advice" of ADOBE "expert")

Ratings (or any other user-supplied metadata) will not be written to the file with this option turned off, unless you tell LrC to manually write the images to the file. So turn this option on.
