Hi since around October whenever I open lightroom it updates the catalog then works fine but when I close it it loses everything I have done - imports/edits etc.

Any ideas?

I have tried looking for a chat or other contact option but this seems the only area dispite the Tag of

Contact Us Real help from real people.

which seems to take you round in circles but never anyway to contact a real person.

Thanks

Mary

Do you have full access rights to the folder where the catalog files is located?

What happens when you tried to create a new catalog, import and edit pictures? It's the same with the "old" catalog?

Please click the link below to contact Adobe staff to help.

Be sure to remain signed in with your Adobe ID before accessing the link below.

You have to allow 'cookies' in your web browser for this to work

If Lightroom updates the catalog each time you open it, then your old catalog is set as the catalog to open in the preferences. As a result, you upgrade the old catalog again each time, and so you won't see anything you did the last time you worked in Lightroom, because that will be in the previously upgraded copy...

Thanks for your help

I have checked and the catalog set to open was the last used so that is not the problem - I did try setting so it would open the V12 catalog specifically but it still tried to upgrade the V10 version. When I try and create a new catalog it tells me it cannot open it as it does not exist.

I will try chat and see if that will solve the issue.

Do you have tried to try to reset the Lightroom preferences.

https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/preference-file-and-other-file-locations.html

Please check also the access rights.

Please see here: Troubleshoot Adobe Lightroom Classic problems, issues, or bugs

Scroll down to the section: "Troubleshoot user account permissions"

In the linked document you'll find many another troubleshooting tips that you can check.

I did try and change preferences with no sucess.

I spent over an hour on chat and remote access with Adobe support who couldn't solve the problem either! Their final suggestion was to reinstall Lightroom which has been sucessful in solving the problem,

Thank you for your help with this,
