Lightroom not loading

Recently I received an update to lightroom Classic, ver 14.2. For some reason when I start it, nothing happens. It shows up in task manager as running but it's nowhere on my desktop or task bar. All my other programs are fine including photoshop. I removed and reinstalled twice to no avail. .Any ideas. TIA

the last time you had LrC running, did it crash, or did you have to force quit it? Either situation would result in the lock file not getting deleted.

Something like this happened to me recently. Very similar symptoms. It turned out that I was trying to load a corrupted catalog. I unzipped the most recent backup, renamed the bad catalog, the copied the unzipped backup to the Lightroom Classic folder and it started right up. If you have multiple catalogs, you can double click on the backup catalog .lrcat file to start that specific one.

@cyberwasp Do you have tried to restore a catalog from a backup and start Lightroom wit hthis catalog as @KR Seals mentioned? Or try to create a new catalog. Hold the Ctrl-Key while starting LrC. This opens a catalog selection dialog.

To create a new one and see if this catalog works. If yes, you could then try to import your current catalog into the new one.

You wrote that you've done a reinstallation. Do you have done a clean reinstallation? If not, than try a reinstallation again and run the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool before you install LR again. After running the cleaner tool restart your PC.

Is your system up-to-date? Do you have installed all recent updates and patches for the operating system and the device drivers, especially the graphic driver. If you have a NVidia graphic card installed, make sure that you are using the recent Studio version of the driver, not the Game Ready version.

The Cleaner Tool can't reset or deinstall single/specific Adobe apps.

Here you'll find additional informations: Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool to solve installation problems

Do you get an error message if the import is hanging?

Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.
