Lightroom running extremely slow

Does anyone know why my LR CC would be running so slow? It seems to be constantly rendering/loading images and will sometimes get frozen to where I have to force quit and shut down the program. This has been happening for the past two weeks. I have cleared out my files and only have two folders in LR right now and it is still doing this. Thank you for any help!!

Have you built the standard-sized previews for your images?

Not sure. I have not changed any settings and have been using this program
for over 5 years. This is just recently happening. Is there something I can
check to see if the previews are built? It does seem like that is what is
taking so long. The image strip at the bottom of the screen is mostly gray
boxes with only a few images showing.

Select the folder or folders containers your images, then choose 'Build Standard-sized Previews' from the 'Library>Previews' menu.

Lightroom (Lr icon) or Lightroom Classic (LrC icon)? (There is no software called LR CC)

Rendering images in the Library module? Rendering images in the Develop module? Rendering images elsewhere?

2. Is Address Lookup paused?

3. Any sync to/from the cloud occuring?
