Every time I go to import new photos through Lightroom Classic (10.4 release) on my MacOS (Big Sur v11.6), when I click on a folder to import from the application stalls. I get that colorful spinning wheel and the program becomes completely unresponsive. It doesn't matter if I try to click into my external harddrive or my computer drive to import the photos, the same thing happens. I have tried restarting the application many times as well as my computer. I have attemted creating a new photo catalogue to import into and the same thing happens.
