Lightroom Update keeping the catalog name

Why o' why does LR force you to create a new catalog with a DIFFERENT name???

Why can't it simply move your older catalogs into a folder and build the new catalog?

Because I have lots of local and cloud backup storage that are dependent on file names being the same, otherwise thing don't sync properly, I have to do this everytime an update is required.

1. Create a new catalog with a new name as instructed by LR.

2. Quit LR.

3. Go to my catalog folder, carefully select the old LR catalog files that are right next to the new ones (don't mess this up) and move them to a different folder.

4. Rename all of my new catalog files back to the original file name.

5. REPEAT THIS PROCESS FOR EVER CATALOG I HAVE!!!!

This can take a few hours for me.

Seriously Adobe, fix this.

Hi , I've moved your post from the Photoshop forum to the Lightroom Classic forum where you are more likely to get a relevant response.

Why is that? Please specify. Please elaborate.

No, too contrived, too involved. Instead change what is being sync/backup on the cloud/etc. Probably just as many steps, but keeps to file standards (Adobe, Microsoft, Apple,  etc)

Also, if Adobe was to accomplish this request for change, they would probably be outraging 100% minus 1 members.

Simply NO
