Lightroom video color grading export portrait orientation

New Here ,

Hello, I've used the color grading for the first time in light room on my portrait orientation video (for reels).

when I export the file, it exports as a landscape with two black panels on the side filling the space. How do I get it to keep its original orientation?

Unfortunately, LR gives you almost no control over video export formats.  Video is LR's barely tolerated stepchild, with very little improvement and support since it was first introduced in LR 3.

The video formats provided in the Export window are defined by Adobe Media Encoder presets, and you can try hacking them.  Use Media Encoder to save a preset that seems to do the right thing, then replace one of the LR presets with it.  See here for my (partially) successful results:

Or you might more profitably use your time by editing in another program (Premier Pro, Resolve (free), Final Cut Pro, etc.).
