Lightroom will not import all my folders to MY CATALOGE

When I tried to create a catalog, Lightroom classic ran through the files and told me there we about 30000 of them and then started to import. It got to about 4000 and appears to have stopped. Many folders are missing from the list on the left and the progress bar at the top on the left that indictaes "Import files at their current location" is about 1/6 of the way and hasn't moved for a few hours. I have rwad various posts with soem solutions but none have worked. Un-checking all movie files appears to have added about 60 pictures to the catalog but nothing else. Has anyone got any solution to this?

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Hello

I have already seen such behavior with a light configuration. Mainly because of RAM consumption as far as I remember. You should probably select only 2000. For the second try, the first 2000 will be greyed because already in the catalog and you select the next 2000. Btw what is your configuration ? CPU/GPU/RAM

I have I6-10500 3.1GHz, Windows 11, most recent build, 32G RAM, NVidia Quadro P2200

Since my first post which was about 2 days since I started the catalog, Lightroom has sprung into life again and has now imported 27000 pictures, nearly all of them after stalling at about 4001.

This morning it had completed with just 10 files not transfered, total 32652 files

Interesting?

Now the Import process has "completed", is your "stalling at about 4001" still a problem? Does LR now record 32652 files?

What is special about those 10 files? Examine them individually and maybe try importing them again - what error message is there?

The 10 files are not important to me as they were all either wrong format or just very old that i donot need them. There are all 32k files available in LRc so I guess the stall at 4001 was something that it got over. I will see what happens when I add more files to my PC and try to sync.

This is not a High-end configuration, but it is a decent one, so you should not have issues. Difficult to say what was the problem at 4001. I have seen some slowness with some antivirus (AVAST) and LrC in the past. It could have been interesting to test with the antivirus deactivated. But now, if you have all your files imported, this is a bit too late 😉

No it is not a high end PC, just an office PC working as hard as possible. I use Norton, it isn't my fav but till my subscription runs out I will stick with it. If I get further issues I will try to disable and see if it helps.
