Lightroom Won't Complete Import of Photos

This has happened the last two times I've tried to import photos from an SD Card, the same way I always do. It gets to about the last 10% of the import and then it just stops moving. Lightroom is still responsive, but it won't finish the upload (ever). I am working on the most up to date version of Lightroom as well. I haven't changed anything about Lightroom (other than updates), or my camera/shooting. Has anyone had this happen, it is very frustrating? Thank you in advance

Please give us more informations:

Which operating system do you use?

Which version of Lightroom do you used?

Do you used a card reader or do you have the camera connected via USB?

Have you tried to copy the photos to the internal hard drive and then import from there?

I am operating on Windows 10.
Lightroom Classic as this is the Lightroom Classic support forum. The most up to date version of it as well.
I have a built in card reader in my laptop, the same method I have always used to import photos for years.
I have not tried to import from the internal hard drive or an external hard drive, I wasn't sure that would make any difference but I can try it while I await another/more responses

In a first step please try to reset the Lightroom preferences.

If this has worked in the past (as you wrote) what has been changed on your system before the error occur. It would help to find out what's responsible for the error.

Yes me too! I am using a SD card with a card reader. This has worked for me for a long time (6 months-). Windows 10, Lightroom version 12.2, I import direct from my card reader. I need help as I need to edit in Lightroom for a class.

Please be more specific.

What has been changed on your system before the error occur?

Do you get an error message? If yes, please post the message here, word-by-word.

Do you have tried to reset the Lightroom preferences? 

What happen if you copy the pictures to your insternal hard drive and then try a import from there?

 

Please provide also a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item.

There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

I received no error message at first. That is: Import from SD card/ copy to /Portable hard drive. The software said that the import could not be conplered.  Later I tried being more specific: Import from folder "100 0lympics" to same. Still no specific error message. Then I repeated the Import from folder (100 Olympics) copy to IXOYE ( portable hard drive). Then I got this error message"Could not copy a file to the destination folder., because it is not wrtable or there is not enough free space".

I copied the photo files to a folder on my computer  and made a second folder in another place on my computer. Lightroom was able to import those photos.  An unperfect temporary solution.

To Ian Lyons no my card does not have video files

Does your card contain video files. If yes, then try imprting by selecting only the photos, then import the videos separately.

 

Alternateively, you may find that resetting the LrC preference file helps. You can use Method 1 as described in this linked Adobe Help document https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html
