Lightroom wont import my images

I'm trying to import my images through my card reader. The images show up in the import box and then I click import, it makes running noises but then nothing imports and it says no images converted to DNG. I restarted my computer, uninstalled and reinstalled LR, I unplugged and replugged my adapter...what am I missing???

When the images appear in the Import dialog box, are they "greyed out"?

After trying a whole bunch more times, LR decided that the catalog was currupt and needed to be repaired. Once it did that it worked!
