Just upated  to LR 13.5, and it will not open. I have tried resetting preferences,  Alt/Shift and still nothing.  I can hear the hd spinning and that is it.  Ideas? Thanks.

8.22.24  Update:  Uninstalled LR and issue went away for a few days...As of this am, it is back.  Rebooted, tried Alt/shift, nothing.

Did LrC previously crash. Did you force quit LrC at last use? Did you check for an errant lock file?

Alt/Shift

You mean hold the Shift key down and click on the LrC startup shortcut icon? But no resultant Catalog Selection Prompt screen?

Oh, and have you tried a Reset of your Windows PC? Reset, not Shutdown/Startup.

Try is to switch off the GPU support from the Lightroom preferences and check if that helps to fix the issue. Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html

If Lightroom doesn't start correctly the please see "Solution 2" in the document behind the link below.

Troubleshoot GPU issues | Lightroom Classic (adobe.com)

If this doesn't help we need more informations about your environment.

Which operating system do you use?

Which version of Lightroom do you use?

Please post the exact version and not only phrases as "recent", "latest" and so on.

I'm having this same issue now. Try to open LR, it crashes immediately, and there's no way for me to go into it to turn off GPU support. Even after reinstalling and removing preferences it still crashes. Here's the crash dump:

I'm having this same issue now. Try to open LR, it crashes immediately, and there's no way for me to go into it to turn off GPU support. ...

Please help?

By @Anabou

Do you have follow the appropriate steps in the linked document in my former post?

"If Lightroom doesn't start correctly the please see "Solution 2" in the document behind the link below.

Troubleshoot GPU issues | Lightroom Classic (adobe.com) "

Is your system up-to-date? Do you have installed all recent updates and patches for the operating system and the device drivers, especially the graphic driver. Please make also sure that you have installed the Studio version and not the Game Ready version of your NVidia driver.

Hold the Ctrl-Key while starting LrC. This opens a catalog selection dialog.

Try to create a new one and see if this catalog then works. You could then try to import your current catalog into the new one.

My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 23H2 -- LR-Classic 13.4 - Photoshop 25.11 - Nik Collection 7 - PureRAW 4 - Topaz PhotoAI 3

Right now I don't have a preferences file in that folder. I did check that guide yesterday. I reinstalled (probably shouldn't have, but eh). I was using Game Ready Drivers until the last Lightroom Classic update and they were working fine, but I guess I can try that. Every other driver and Windows update is installed. I doubt the drivers will fix this but I can try. Will report in a bit.

Didn't work. I also tried ctrl+clicking the shortcut to it and that didn't work. I'm having to edit on my laptop in which I prevented updates so I can actually work but this is not a long term solution.

What didn't work? Please describe more detailed.

Double click onto the LR icon on the desktop and then immediately afterwards the CTRL key.

This opens a catalog selection dialog. Try to create a new one and see if this catalog then works. You could then try to import your current catalog into the new one.

It's recommended to use the Studio driver.

Hitting ctrl and clicking the shortcut didn't work. The crash is exactly the same with the same error report. I am now with the Studio Driver as well but that didn't fix it. I really don't know what else to do, because I've tried everything I know...

I decided to update to Windows 11, reset the computer and everything seems to be working now. I hope.
