LR classic arbitrarily assigns a color label

When I import or edit in Photoshop LR classic will assign a color label. Presently it's blue but it just changes them. Any idea why?

Either you have a preset that assigns a label or there is already one in the file. Labels are NOT stored by color, they are stored as text. So if you use a program that has different label assignments, the label color may change when you view the file.

I have never assigned a preset for labels. I open a picture in LR, edit it
in PS and when I save it, it puts a color on it.

When I import pictures into LR it will bring some of them in with color
labels.

This just started happening in the last two upgrades to LR.

To the best of my memory I have never used color labels.

And it's very inconsistent. Although now it's happening more regularly.

I delete the labels and when I open LR again they come back.

I can't find anything in PS or LR preferences that would tell me why this
keeps happening.

If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them.

This would be frustrating for you John.

Colours are linked to image files with the numeral keys 6, 7, 8, 9 and purple (!).

Could it be a sticky key or keyboard overlay perhaps?

Do you use Bridge in your workflow .  .  .  ? is something going on there if you do so?

I think it may have been a sticky key. When you mentioned that I remembered I recently started using a new keyboard. When I pressed the 6,7,8,9,! it changed the colors but then it stopped putting them on when I imported or edited. Hopefully that has taken care of the problem. Thank you all for you suggestions and help.

I'm now having more label problems. I can assign a label and it shows the name of the color in the metadata. The folder shows as red but none of the thumbnails have any color.

Another problem is when I have an empty folder LR won't remove it. Everything is in the main folder and the sub folders have a zero or -1 with a questionmark.

This just started happening.
