Lrc 12.4 will not start. Can find it as an instance in Task manager under CCdesktop tree.

If i reset with Shift/Alt start and reset Lrc starts as it should but with libary gone. Lrc is now an seperate instance in Task manager. Close down Lrc, and it will not start again, back to square one.

Windows 10 home 22H2.

Upgraded to Windows 11 home to see if that helps. No luck

Windows 11 build 22621.1848

TThis bug only affects Lrc. Ps and Lr still works fine.

Please try to reset the preferences to the default settings.

Reset Procedure:

  • Close Lightroom.
  • Windows: Hold down [Alt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
Mac: Hold down [Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
  • Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
  • Close Lightroom.
  • Restart Lightroom.

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/preference-file-and-other-file-locations.html

If this doesn't try the following steps:

  • Close LrC if open (if the UI isn't visible shut down LR via Taskmanager)
  • Locate the file named "metrics.json"
  • File Locations:
    Mac: /Users/<username>/Library/Caches/Adobe/Lightroom/metrics.json
    Win: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Lightroom\Caches\metrics.json
  • Remove or rename the file

Check if Lightroom starts normally.

Please note that the AppData folder (Windows) is hidden by default. To make hidden folders visible, see Show hidden files, folders, and filename extensions in Windows (adobe.com).

Thanks for reply.

This file does not exist on my system: Win: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Lightroom\Caches\metrics.json

Got one in Win: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\LightroomCC\Caches\metrics.json .But reanimg this makes no difference.

Reset procedure does not help either. Beacuse when i close down Lrc, the problem reappears once i restart Lrc.

Update.

I can now start Lrc without errors by clicking on the Catalogfile:  Lightroom Catalog-v12.lrcat

But if i close it down it will not open normally. I still have to go via the catalog file.
