LRC cannot access internal C drive after migration

New Here ,
Jul 07, 2024 Jul 07, 2024

I purchased a new computer (Windows 11), installed LRC 13.3, and imported my old LR 5.0 catalogue. None of the folders known to LR 5 are linked in LRC 13, but these can easily be redirected. My concern is that the internal C drive of the new computer is not known to LRC. Therefore I cannot import, move, or redirect photos on the new computer. Further, I cannot navigate during Import or create new folders in Library.

I suspect that after the import of the LR 5 catalogue LRC is looking for the C drive on the old computer.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

  • Place at least one photo in a folder on your C drive
  • In LrC bring up the Import module.
  • On the left select (if not by default) Files as source, not Device (Device might not show up w/o a SD card, or camera attached)
  • You should be able to select the C drive
  • Over on the right, in the destination, make sure the destination is valid. (unless of course you select Add)
  • Import

That is not the only way to force a import as to make LrC, Folders Panel, see a drive or folder, others exist.

Import and re-direct photos should have every drive in the computer available to you, including your C: drive.

Please show us screen captures of what you see in import and re-direct. We need to see the entire Import screen. Use the "Insert Photos icon" to include your screen captures. Do NOT attach files.

Thanks for your reply. I'm actually helping a friend set up her new computer and as timing would have it she will be traveling for a few weeks and I won't have access to her laptop for a few weeks now. I'll update this link again when she returns.
