I have tried many many solutions now - 2 different adobe tech support people have been given remote access to my computer and failed to resolve the problem. I've just re-installed the operating system.
And still all I get is the splash screen and the spinning wheel and massive energy use.
Big shame when I've just bought a new computer expressly to use lightroom classic! I am at the point of reverting to Lightroom (not classic) and waiting till adobe sorts this out.
But I would be interested to hear if anyone is successfully using lightroom classic on m1 with ventura 13.2.1 because at the moment I just don't think it's possible.

Yes, Lightroom Classic actually works fine on my MBP 16" M1 Max running MacOS Ventura 13.2.1 and on many other M1 Macs. I'm sorry that I can't help you with your problem, but you are giving precious little info about what you already tried, except that you reinstalled MacOS which is hardly ever the solution. Did you reset the Lightroom Classic preferences? Did you try with a different/new catalog? Did you try with a different computer account?

Thank you for confirming that it is POSSIBLE because I was really starting to doubt it.
I haven't tried setting up a new account. I've run out of patience for dealing with this problem now.
I (and the adobe techs) have resent the preferences and reset the catalogs and un-installed and re-installed lightroom classic and the whole adobe suite. It has access to the hard drive. I have deleted all other apps that run in the background. Apple support got me to restart the computer in safe mode and try to launch it from there, that also didn't work.
Re-installing the operating system was my last ditch attempt.
Lightroom, photoshop and rush all work, as does every other app on my computer.
I've run out of hours to spend on this so I'll wait until Adobe sorts out these bugs and try again in a few weeks.

Hi, I'm new to the forum but I am having the same issue and pulling my hair out. I have a project deadline and unfortunately updating my imac to ventura without googling if there were any issues. my lightroom classic won't function properly, making it useless. i also spent a lot of time with apple support--nothing worked. ive searched this forum for hours tryign to find a solution. i have the latest ventura 13.2.1 and the latest lightroom classic 12.2.1 and it's so upsetting as my whole project is riding on my finishing this in a few days. could someone please please give me some advice. can it really be true that lightroom classic is not compatable with the latest mac OS upgrate (ventura)??? how can this be???

No, it isn't true that Lightroom Classic is not compatible with MacOS Ventura. It's definitely is compatible, although that obviously does not mean that nobody can or will have any problems. There are some issues with folders not showing any images in version 12.2.1. This has been reported and is under investigation. Apparently downgrading to 12.2 solves the problem for people who are affected by this. Some people are affected, most people (including me) have no problems with that.
@Tessa288894707bf6 and @master_care0D4C you need to understand that there is no known bug that makes Lightroom Classic not run on MacOS Ventura, so waiting for Adobe to fix that 'bug' means you will wait forever. This is a problem on your computer, so that is where the fix is needed.
I understand how frustrating it can be to have a problem like this and to conclude that none of the suggestions work. But that still does not change the fact that this must be fixed on your computer. Like @Jao vdL said, and like I already suggested too, create a new MacOS account and see if Lightroom Classic runs on that account. If it does, then we know more and may be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the response - and thanks for the attempts to help. I'm the first to admit I'm not a super "techy" person, but it's disapponting that Adobe wasn't able to help me. I've already tried creating a new adobe account so to now create a THIRD adobe account (each needing credit card number)is not something I want to do. Looking at this forum it seems to be a very common problem, but with numerous potential solutions and honestly I feel like I'm just creating multiple redundant files now. It is a commercial program and I think it's up to Adobe to find a solution, otherwise I'll just stick with using Lightroom (not classic) combined with photoshop.

I was not talking about creating a new Adobe account, I meant you need to create a new account in MacOS. In other words, you need to create a new login account for your computer. Log into your computer with that new account, and then try to start Lightroom Classic.

Ok - so I tried opening Lightroom Classic from a different Mac user account and it worked (or at least got me to the sign in page). I need to be able to use it under my account and the steps oulined to correct this problem look really time consuming and complex so will have to wait until I have a day off. (and I suspect that at least a few of them have already been tried). But at least I have some sort of progress to report! Thanks.

So here's the tough part. Since it doesn't crash as a new user, there is a conflict with something in the original (Admin?) user that is making it crash. The hard part is figuring out what that is. The first task is to disable all auto log in items in Users and Groups>Login Items in your System preferences (System Settings in Ventura). You can make a screen capture or jot down what each item is, disable, restart and try again. If it doesn't crash, you can add one or more items, restart and try again. At some point, you may find which item is at issue. It isn't easy but that's really the fix unless you do a clean install of the OS which might be more work.
The bottom line is, that something in your user account is conflicting with the Adobe software. Gotta find out what that item is.

The only log in items are
-adobe creative cloud
- express VPN
Express VPN is active on the other Mac account - is it possible that it blocks it on mine, but not that one?
I have already tried a re-install of the OS which didn't work.

Yes. So it's still crashing? You said the other user didn't and it's the same?

I have the same problem: Lightroom Classic just cannot load! I have a clean install of Ventura 13.4,so this should not be a problem of the computer settings! So many have come across this problem and you call it not a bug , some kind of worm,Ok?

You did a clean install of the OS, installed only LRc and then what happened when you launch it?

I use LR classic on my M1 Max running Ventura 13.2.1 and it works perfectly fine. Never heard of a problem with it until this thread. There are some small incompatibilities but nothing that would prevent it from running. You do need to make sure to give Lightroom Classic Full disk access in Privacy and Security in System Preferences. Also it sounds like you haven't tried the no1 trouble shooting thing, which is deleting the Lightroom Classic preferences: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

I am also having problems running Lightroom Classic with Ventura 13.2.1
Don't know what else I can do. I have already re-installed the operating system twice. I have re-istalled everything I had from creative cloud and all the adobe programs I have such as Photosop, Illustrador and so on and nothing seems to work. I have tryed adobe's tech support and no one seems to understand the problem.

Hi everyone,
thanks for your response and suggestions. I'm happy to report that I had the thought that maybe there was an issue with my external drive. since many of you are photogs, you, like me, are probably using an external drive for your very large raw files. i ejected my drive and restarted it. voila! now things are back on track. i have no idea what caused this issue, and if it will work for you, but give it a shot! To Adobe: maybe tell us why this would be the case? clearly, this is a bug ... thanks everyone!! good luck!

Usually when it's an external drive, that hints that Full Disk Access may not be properly implemented, so do check it in Security & Privacy.
Here's a link about it (which I actually got from @JohanElzenga )

thanks so much, Sean. So far, so good just with ejected and restarting the external drive (Gdrive Sandisk), but if i run into issues later i will look at the full disk access situation.

An external drive or NAS may also need a firmware update. For those having problems, are you using anything linked to cloud services or any network drives? Both are problematic.
