Bonjour
Savez-vous comment déplacer des photos d'un catalogue à un autre sans déplacer les photos ?
Merci
[since writing about catalogs, it seems to be Lightroom classic - moved to the correct community - Mod.]
The proble is that my catalog contains to much photos 49000.
Number of photos is almost never the cause of problems. Perhaps it would be a problem if there is very little free space left it could be a problem. How much free space is left on each drive? Other than that, having 49000 photos is not the problem.
And when the backup starts it takes a very long time
This is the problem. I would first search this forum for backups taking a long time. Perhaps the solution already exists.

Please share the exact version of Lightroom you use.
Photos can not simply be moved between catalogs. There are some ways to do it, however, to lead you in the right direction, please share detail on exactly what you are trying to achieve.
Also, please tell us why you are using multiple catalogs instead of only one.

Hello
I Use the last version of Lightroom 14.5.1
The proble is that my catalog contains to much photos 49000 .
And when the backup starts it takes a very long time
My Idea is to move the photos of the past years to an archive catalog , and to keep in the active catalogu only the active year.
It will be a good idea that Lightroom could open several catalogs at the same time
Thnaks for your ideas

What is the size of your catalog?
Are you talking about the backup of LrC or the backup of your system including the photos?
Increased backup time is not sourced by the catalog, it's due to the amount of photos. Moving them out of a catalog does not change anything.
Please note that the photos are NOT part of the catalog, nor are they included in the LrC backup.
I'd move (old) photos off of the primary disk to an external disk, but still keep these in the same catalog. That brings you the most use.
There are many guides on the web. Here's just one: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/move-photos-another-hard-drive-leaving-catalog/

This will not help, it is unnecessary, again unless you have very little free space on each drive.

Please, I have a request. There are two softwares by Adobe with similar names, that can cause confusion. There is Lightroom Classic and there is Lightroom. You do not use Lightroom. Please refer to your software from now on as Lightroom Classic.
