LrC for Mac freezes when importing

Community Beginner ,
Apr 12, 2025 Apr 12, 2025
LrC for Mac 14.2
Mac OS 15.3.2

When I open LrC everything seems to work fine until I click on the Import button, at which point the system freezes and the only option is to force quit the app.

I've checked my sync status (it's caught up), closed the app (and checked for catalog integrity while shutting down) and re-opened it, and restarted the Mac and tried everything again. Nothing helps.

My photos are stored on a Synology NAS and the catalog is on the MacBook Pro (M2) internal SSD. I disconnected the NAS from my Mac, restarted the Mac, reconnected the NAS, and then opened LrC. Same result. Everything in LrC works fine until I click Import, at which point the app freezes.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

1. Try resetting LR's preferences:
https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

LR sometimes soils its preferences file, and resetting it can fix all sorts of wonky behavior. That article explains how to restore the old preferences if resetting doesn't help.

2. If that doesn't help, do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and import

Resetting preferences worked! (sort of). When I clicked on Import I got a progress bar in the upper left corner that said In Process (or something like that) but nothing seemed to be happening so after waiting a bit I clicked Import again and I was able to select and import my folder. I tried it with another folder and the same thing happened (I needed to click Import twice). I'll play with it some more later but at least I'm back in business.

Thanks very much for such a quick and helpful reply!
