Hi, I am experienced in LRC. When go to Edit to create an HDR the prelimiinary image appears per usual. When I go to merge the status bar flickers and no image is created. I've done this successfully for years, brand new issue. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi, thanks for the response. Using a macBook, Sonoma 14.3.1, 850 gb free RAM. Adobe LRC 13.1 release/Camera Raw 16.1. I think I described the problem in simple but accurate terms. No error message, screenshot would not add anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

LrC is now up to V13.2. You should try that, or, you could roll back LrC to an earlier version of V 13.x. See if that works. Unfortunately, Apple makes it practically impossible to roll back MacOS which would probably fix the problem.
850 GB free ram? My M1 Max is maxed out at 64 GB.
I just did a Merge to HDR of three Nikon Z 9 45MP raw files on my MBP M1 MAX and it worked fine. I am on MacOS 14.1 and LrC V13.2

First thing to check is if there is really no new DNG, or if it just looks like it. If you are in a smart collection that filters on raw files for example, then the new DNG will not show because it is not a raw file. The same thing happens if you are in a normal collection or a folder, and you have an active filter that filters out the DNG. So go to 'All Photographs', make sure you have no filters enabled, make sure you sort on File Name or Capture Date and look for the DNG next to the raw files.
