What update are you referring to? Update to MacOS, update to LrC, update to something else?

Please tell us the version NUMBER of your Lightroom Classic. Please tell us the version NUMBER of your operating system.

Are you trying to import using the memory card in a card reader, or in the camera via USB?

If so, then the Add button will be unavailable by design.

Or, have you outside of LrC copied the images from the memory card to a hard drive and are now attempting to import in LrC?

It should never be possible to 'ADD' images to the catalog if these images are on a memory card! There was a bug however, where this was possible with certain memory cards like CFExpress. If you are using such a card and try to add images to the catalog without copying them to a hard disk, then apparently Adobe finally fixed that bug...
