Hi,

Here is my strange issue and i hope you could help...

I have 2 hard drives : One for pictures till 2022  (E) and the other for 2023 (F)

Opened this morning LRc 13 and all my files were noted as missing.

When i took a look at the Lrc FOLDER i found out that Lrc sees that the 2023 files are placed in the 2022 hard disk and vice versa !

I tried to restore the v13 catalog, it goes the same way...

How can i fix it ?

Windows apparently re-assigned the drive letters. To fix it, 'reconnect' the top folders:

You may also consider fixing the drive letters (and use higher ones), so it does not happen again.

Thank you @JohanElzenga but windows did not re-assigned the driver letters that is why it is strange to me !

The driver names are the same as Lrc sees them ( seen when clicking propreties) but Lrc did  inverted the folder files in the folder panel !

I do not see how Lightroom could have done this, but you can solve it the way I said.

I'm a Mac user, so I do not know how Windows assigns a name to a drive, but I assume it assigns the name to the drive letter, and not to the physical drive itself (like MacOS does). So 'Photos A2022' is assigned to E, and if Windows re-assigns the letters, that name remains linked to drive letter E. That would explain why the names seem to have flipped.

For Windows OS. And external hard drives (If)

1. Are those external drives? If so do you have the drive letters assigned permanently?? If not, then depending on device connection status at time of boot, the letters can change.

2. Are those external drives? If so, are they allowed to go into power savings?? To sleep? If so LrC can trip up and think they do not exist.

Hi @GoldingD , Thanks for your help.
yes the drivers are external and usually Windows AND Lrc recognize the drivers with the same letters... even if they sleep a little 😉 ( since monthes !)

I checked and Windows did not change the drive letters ; Lrc neither... exept that Lrc saw the files of the drive F into the drive E !

I uninstall and reinstall Lrc, same problem.

I am now deleting all the folder and create them from the beginning....Very long procedure !

Strangely all my collections are gone too !!!
