LRC is downloading my whole CLOUD. Why?

Community Beginner ,

I have LRC on my MacBook and LR Mobile on my Android. My Creative cloud is 6.5GB with 2100 items synced from my LR Mobile as expected.

I set up a Collection in my LRC to sync a few selective items to the Cloud.

ISSUE:

When I turned on sync to upload only my synced collection in LRC it also synced and downloaded all 6.5GB of the items in my CLOUD.

IS THERE AWAY to only sync my Collection Folder which is what I expected. I do not need 6.5GB of items downloaded from the cloud on my Macbook in addition to that which is in the cloud itself.

Can anyone explain why this is happening on LRC and how to prevent it?

Hi @Surfboy500! Thanks for reaching out. I totally get why you'd want more control over what syncs.

Right now, Lightroom Classic doesn’t let you pick and choose which images to sync from Lightroom CC. Once sync is turned on, everything stored in the cloud will download into Lightroom Classic automatically.

Let me know if you have any other questions or if there’s anything else I can help with

Thanks Aleke,

I was confusedbecause all I read said you had control to only sync the folders in the Collection you set up in LRC for syncing. I was very surprised when the whole CC was downloaded to LRC.

What happens if I delete the DL folder from my MAC if I need to space? I dont really use the CC pics in my LRC but wanted to just use the Collection folder to share specific picks

Hi @stefposs! Totally get the confusion here.

You can choose which collections to sync from Lightroom Classic to Lightroom CC, but it doesn’t quite work the same the other way around.

If you delete a file from Lightroom Classic, it’ll be removed across the whole Lightroom ecosystem. That said, if you delete the file directly from Finder, it might still appear in Lightroom CC, but in Classic, it’ll show up as a missing file in your catalog. You can try this on your end by deleting 1 photo and testing if that works before deleting the whole album.

Let me know if anything’s unclear or if you have more questions!
