Hey everyone
I am new to LRC and am currently completing an online course for it. Right from the start I have run into a problem. When I select my files for import (Have tried from external hard drive, as well as direct of SD card), I am only given the option to "ADD", the other 3 options are grayed out. I have double checked and they are all RAW files.
I have done some trouble shooting online already and havent had any luck. I do get a notification saying that my driver is outdated, however I have attempted to update and my CPU is not supported by the new Windows 11 update. I have Windows 10pro. Could this be it?
Does anyone know what this may be?
Thanks

The photos on the source, they are new correct? Not previously imported into your catalog? And you are sure of that? You might want to take a brand new pic just in case and test.

This one is so odd. Basically backwards from the normal problems. Also, that is a SD card? Lrc should not allow ADD from a SD card (the normal problem, well user problem)

So, perhaps the magic bullet, perhaps the preferences file got corrupted and is causing odd issues.
Have you considered resetting the LrC preference file ?

I did the reset and am now able to "Copy as DNG"" from the SD card, but still not the hard drive. I am assuming it is something I have done with files. I simply highlighted and dragged from the SD card so I am not to sure what has happened, but that is all I can think of.
I apreciate the help!

I just went to double check the process for moving the files from thr SD card to the harddrive and it is actually showing as as "copying"when I highlight and drag. Any idea on why this would be? or how I can Move them correctly and not Copy?

Even though their is a Move option in the LrC Import screen, never ether use the Move option, In my opinion, it should not exist. When you select Move, the original photos gets deleted from the source, this can lead to disaster. If the Move fails to properly place the photos at the destination, then you are fouled up beyond all recognition. Incidentally, in your OS file management you can Move, but same warning, do not do it.
Also, do not delete the original photos from the SD card until you have a backup of the photos. At least one.

On the subject of backups. And something in the back of my mind (ah, the Move concept) causes me to put out this caution. You must maintain backups of your catalog, your various settings and add-ins, and your photos. As to photos, remember they are not actualy in your catalog, and backing up the catalog via LrC dies not back up the photos. Do not place backups on the same hard drive as the originals. Maintain if possible at least three bacups, two on different hard drives (internal and/or external) and one off site (hard drive shipped elsewhere, cloud backup, etc)

Getting back to subject.
You can now Copy as DNG (from SD card). Can you also select and accomplish the normal Copy?
Can you Copy say one photo as a test.

Yes I can now normal copy from the SD card as well. It is simply the files that I am trying to import from my external Hard drive which is only showing me the option Move.

This hard drive?
Also, "Have tried from external hard drive, as well as direct of SD card"
For a test, not quite a diagnostic, not a workaround, try copying a photo to your internal hard drive, a new photo, and see what LrC shows if you try to import that file from that drive.

Also, the drives partition, it is in the as purchased NTFS, correct? Has not been setup for MACOS.

Hmm, a stray thought.
In LrC, can you export a photo to that external hard drive?
