mask select sky crashed LR classic

image has black sky with moon and tree lit by foorway light. when i chose mask/select sky to lighten the sky, LR spun for a minute and then abruptly closed. see attached jpg of the image at the stage i tried to select sky. actual image nef with prior detail, sharpening, and other adjustments not included, trying to do so caused error msg (The attachment's dsc_2464.nef content type (image/nef) does not match its file extension and has been removed.)

.system is latest windows (as of yesterday), 16G memory

Is your computer a desktop or a laptop?

If a laptop, does it only have a integrated video control, and no descreate graphics processing unit?

If so, what is the integrated video controlls driver vetsion?

If you do have a descrete GPU, much better, and what is that driver version?

空や被写体を選択はGPUを使用する機能です。

GPUが関係して不具合が起きているのであれば、環境設定でGPUの使用をOFFにしてどうなるか見てみてください。

OFFにして問題なく動作しているなら、GPUが関係して不具合が起きていることが判明します。

GPU関係に問題がある場合は、GPUのドライバーを最新のものに更新してみます。

So v512.78. for the GPU driver,

At NVIDIA v517.48 for Game Ready, and v517.40 for Studio is shown as current. Studio are more steady/proven, you may want to update, you may want to select custom for install type as to force a clean install.

ok, i'll look into updating & seeing whether i can figure out how to proceed in the best way. i solved this image's issue by selecting the object (tree) and inverting. that worked smoothly. and i haven't had any trouble before this, althogh i just learned bout it (in the LR virtual summit) so i haven't done very many. and this was the 1st blacken sky.

NVDIA updateed my driver this morn & all seems to work as planned now, with no crash & close.
