Masks Not Saving in Lightroom Classic

Every time I get back on lightroom all the masks I've created are not working and I have to update the masks on each picture. It's driving me bonkers - PLEASE HELP!

Make sure the .lrcat-data file is not set to 'read only' (right click and Get Info) in the catalog folder.
