I have searched these forums yet I have not found a solution to this issue. There are similar ones but not this one.
I am running a MacBook Pro M3 with 36gb of ram, 500gb internal SSD with 300gb of free space and a 4tb external SSD. The OS is Sequoia 15.1 and Lightroom Classic 14.1. The LRC catalog is on the internal SSD.
I am having a memory leak in Lightroom Classic ONLY when it is syncing. If I pause syncing I can use Lightroom for days however, once I restart syncing, I can watch the memory usage climb over a 15 minute time period until Lightroom freezes, the swap file and ram are maxed out and the MacOS banner pops up to force close Lightroom.
I have followed the procedure to remove and reinstall Lightroom twice, (the one that requires restarting the Mac after every step), but it did not help. I’ve tried with a new catalog and I even removed every image from the sync list to see if that would help. Nothing stops the memory leak during syncing.
I need my images to sync so leaving it off is out of the question. This is so frustrating.

This issue was resolved by logging out of all my devices except the Mackbook. Pressing the option key and clicking the "reset sync data" button. Restarting the MacBook then selecting "all photos." I then tagged all of my photos with a color by pressing the 6 key. This started the sync again without the memory leak. I then took my iPad, selected all photos and gave them a different color tag "7". I then logged in with the iPad and let it sync. I hope all my photos will have a red tag and my edits

I need to add, all plug-ins are disabled and the preferences have been reset. The problem remains.

The issue is almost certainly linked to syncing. Therefore, you may find the solution (Correct Answer) provided in the thread that I've linked below helps.

Thank you for your reply. I went to Lightroom web as suggested in the correct answer. Unfortunately, there is no "sync errors" in Lightroom Web.

Hi, there is a new version out, 14.1 that has a fix for a sync issue, did you try it out?
