Metadata issue on import

When importing, if in the import dialogue box, the Develop Settings is set to None, files will be imported but metadata as displayed on the images becomes erratic as does the pick selection flag.  Also, in Library>Metadata>Preset, a busy circle just keeps turning.  This does not occur if a preset is chosen in Develop Settings.

All is good on reboot.  Nothing seems be lost.

Sounds like a corrupt catalog. You might want to create a test catalog and see if the issue is repeatable.
