Migrating from Lightroom 6 to Lightroom Creative Cloud

Hello, I subscribed to Creative Cloud (LR and PS) and I'm preparing to migrate my photos from Lightroom 6. I've done a bit of reading and haven't found the answer to this question: when I migrate, will the keywords on my photos be maintained and migrated as well? I understand folders and their heirarchy AREN'T migrated and need assurances that I'll have my keywords so as not to lose all the organization I've done over several years. Thanks in advance.

There's no migration from Lr 6 to latest Lr Classic 12.5.

After installing the latest version, it will simply copy ant then upgrade your catalog. All the work done will still be available, as well as the folder structure stays the same.

Thanks. I subscribed to Creative Cloud to get access to Photoshop in
addition to LR. The reading I’ve done makes this look like a mistake as the
LR in CC doesn’t have all the features I’m used to in LR6.

"in CC" is a wrong term ... everything together is called Creative Cloud.

This includes both versions of Lightroom: Lightroom and Lightroom Classic, depending on the subscription you did choose. If you are on the photography plan, then you can use both.

Thanks, I see that now, and I appreciate your clarification. I find their
product naming conventions are very confusing.

You're in good company with that observation. Adobe has a long track record of really confusing naming conventions. Lightroom and Lightroom Classic are prime examples.

Lightroom (Cloud) should have been given a new name entirely to distinguish it from Lightroom Classic.

Forum regulars are forever explaining the differences to confused newbies.

Just make sure in installing the software that you select "Lightroom Classic". That is the newer evolution of your Lightroom 6, into which the LR 6 Catalog can be directly transferred with everything intact, and everything will continue to refer to the same locally stored image files as before.

What is now offered under the name "Lightroom" is a radically different system: it's the desktop interface to a cloud based system referring to uploaded image files. So please don't be misled by the naming!

Are you talking about using Lightroom (Lr icon, which stores your photos in the Adobe cloud) or Lightroom Classic (LrC icon, which stores your photos on one of your computer's hard disks, internal or external)?
