In a nutshell:
- New laptop (Lenovo PC)
- Over the last 18 years, I have saved all LR files on an external drive
- Trying to view LR files on new laptop, the 41,000 images on "E" drive, all are "missing" because ..
- New laptop recognizes the external drive as "F" drive (which has the green active box)
Question:
- Is there an easier way to fix this the "finding missing files" other than one folder at a time (I can find by pointing a missing folder to the correct folder on "F" drive), I have hundreds of folders? If I select entire ultimate parent folder and choose "find missing files" I get a pop up warning files will be merged .. which I want to make sure is correct before I make a bigger problem.
Suggestions?? TIA, Jeff
Why not rename the drive?
I agree, just change the drive letter, that's the easiest solution.
Otherwise, to avoid Find Missing Folder one folder at a time, you can do it on a parent folder and all subfolders will be updated. See Figure 4 at http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm

I'd be curious to know exactly what that popup says, but in general, you should be able to just point at the top level folder and LrC will relink all the rest, provided the structure hasn't changed.
Another option would just be to change the drive letter to E:
