Missing files in Lightroom and now Lightroom won’t work

New Here ,
Nov 26, 2024 Nov 26, 2024

Hi , I hope someone can help . I went looking for my missing files in Lightroom and it was a zip file on my Mac . Because it wouldn't let me click on the  zip file , I opened it and whatever it asked me I said yes !
I went back to Lightroom and now all my folders are blank and I thought I'd maybe go and import the images again from my file cards and it won't let me import anything either .
it's like my whole Lightroom has grinded to a halt . I've restarted my Mac but it didn't help . I'm freaking out - can someone please help me ! Thankyou so much

Hi, thanks for reaching out to the Adobe Community!

First, use the Finder on your Mac to unzip the folder. Once done, try relinking and relocating the files using the steps suggested here: https://adobe.ly/4i62eKy

Let us know if it helps!
Thanks,
Nikunj

Are you talking about Lightroom (Lr icon) or Lightroom Classic (LrC icon)? What version NUMBER?

I went looking for my missing files in Lightroom and it was a zip file on my Mac .

I don't understand. You can't look for missing files in Lightroom and "it was a zip file". Please explain in a lot more detail. How did you look for these missing files in Lightroom? GIve us the step-by-step process you followed. When you say "it was a zip file", what was a zip file?

Looking at you screen clip I am thinking you may have done a upgrade to Lr-Classic and the Upgrade has saved your previous version catalog in a ZIP file- Somehow you have imported the unzipped catalog folder so it is showing as a folder in the folder panel. So I also don't understand what you have done .

DO NOT IMPORT THE PHOTOS AGAIN.! This only messes up the catalog more.

More importantly your folder panel is showing 'Missing' folders (with a ?) this means that LrC has lost its link to the location of these folders and contained files.

Fix the missing folders-

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.0, Photoshop 27.0, ACR 18.0, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0 .
