Move Lightroom to New Laptop

New Here ,
Dec 15, 2023 Dec 15, 2023

Want to move Lightroom Classic (LC) app from old Dell laptop (Window 11) to a newer one.  Don't see LC on the downloads list (Creative Cloud). Have already moved catalogs... just the app is the problem. My current version is LC 6.14 and it looks like I am several updates behind as there is at least a 13.1 out there. Where can I dowmload the current version of LC?

If your current Lightroom is 6.14, there are no updates. However, you can download the installer from https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/lightroom-6-end-of-support.html

Please note that this download link stops working next week sometime. A word to the wise ... Do yourself a favor and save the downloaded file someplace you can find it easily if you ever need it in the future.

Lightroom Classic is only available by subscription. LR 6 was the last standalone version.

The cheapest alternative is the 20 GB Photography plan, at 10 US Dollars (or equivalent) a month. This also includes Photoshop. Using cloud storage is optional, and LrC still requires that the originals are stored locally.

Version 13 looks and feels just like LR 6, but there are loads of new features.

If you want to carry on using LR 6, you can, for a limited time (until the end of this month) download

The only way you can get Lightroom Classic 13.1 is to subscribe to the Adobe Photography Plan (not the Lightroom Plan) for $9.99/month US Dollars (this is an annual subscription, you will be charged a penalty to cancel before the year is ended)

"Version 13 looks and feels just like LR 6, but there are loads of new features."

And it's hugely more demanding of computer hardware - it might be too much for a computer that can run Lr 6 happily enough: and perhaps even for a new machine, if it hasn't been specced with Lr 13 in mind.

Just something for the OP to be aware of.
