Moved from Intel Mac to M4 Mac - I think I messed up!

Hey All

Can anyone help?

I have just moved from intel mac mini to M4 mac mini, I used migration assistance and have only realised this is the wrong way to do things! I have only just noticed my Creative Cloud App is not running so went to open it and its saying I need to install something called Rosetta which is for intel macs?

I don't want to do that and I understand I need to re-install Creative Cloud App for M4 chips and then re-download my Lightroom and Photoshop etc that is optimised for Apple.

Which order is best to do this as I don't want to have to install Rosetta?

Using the Migration Assistant was OK.  But it sounds like you had an old version of the Creative Cloud app installed (newer versions are "universal" binaries that run on both Intel and Apple Silicon).

Download and install the Creative Cloud app following these instructions:

https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/apps/download-install-apps/creative-cloud-apps/download-cre...

Then, using the Creative Cloud app, uninstall and reinstall LR Classic and other Creative Cloud apps you had previously installed.

Thanks, I'll give it a go.

If I download the latest version of CC app and run the installer, I assume it will it just overwrite the old one thats still installed or will I end up havign two installed and get myself deeper into this mess?

I can't get around unsitalling the current version on my new M4 without installing Rosetta, urggg what a mess I have made. Did'nt realise this was a thing and would have saved myself the hassle sorting it out before the migration.

I suppose if I have to install Rosetta then I will but if I can avoid it I will. I assume all of my catalogs, photos, presets will all be safe?

"If I download the latest version of CC app and run the installer, I assume it will it just overwrite the old one thats still installed"

I can't test it, but I'm pretty confident it will. (But if it doesn't, there's an Adobe tool that will remove all traces of the Creative Cloud from your computer.)

Rosetta 2 is perfectly fine to install. It just allows Apple Silicon Macs to execute Intel versions of apps. But I think it's simpler and cleaner to simply download the current installer.

"I assume all of my catalogs, photos, presets will all be safe?"

Yes. That's the main reason for using the Migration Assistant -- to bring over all your files.

Ok many thanks again.

I'll give it ago today, wish me luck!

I'll back up my catalog and presets etc before doing it though.
