Moving all photos to a new Mac

Hi, I have a Mac Pro 5.1 from mid 2010. Now I am considering changing to the new Mac Studio because I can not upgrade LightRoom on the old Mac Pro anymore. All my work is on one of the 3.5" HDs in the Mac Pro. How do I best move the photos from the HD to the SSD on the Mac Studio in the smartest way? Is it possible to connect the Macs through the Ethernet ports? I have about 1.8 TB of images.

For any advice many thanks in advance,

Arne Marco

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. We are here to help.

Migrating or moving Lightroom Classic from one computer to the other might take some brainstorming, and there are a few suggestions to keep in mind. If all of your images are in a hierarchical structure, the movement will be easy and can be, theoretically, be done in one go. Also, Lightroom Classic runs on a catalog database system. We have standard advice shared for when you are moving from one computer to another with video guides too, please check this :https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/catalog-faq-lightroom.html
