Adobe Lightroom Classic

13.5 Release. Camera Raw 16.5

Build 202408062022-6258095b

MacOS

Mac Studio 2022

Chip Apple M1 Max

Memory 32GB

macOS Sonoma 14.6.1

  • Beginning in grid view I select a photo, photo #1.
  • On photo #1, I edited then exported.
  • I go back to grid mode and find another photo to work on.
  • I then select a new photo, photo #2.
  • I go to export, it is trying to overwrite the previous file using the same name.
  • If I proceed and overwrite, it replaces the file photo #1 with the same one, photo #1.
  • If I double-click the newly selected file, photo #2, to enlarge it, it brings up the previous file that I had worked on, photo #1.
  • Once I have the photo #1 up large on the screen I move over to the photo #2, while still in loupe view, I can then export it correctly.

  • I then go back to grid view and select a new photo, photo #3. If I attempt to export it, it overwrites the photo #2, with photo #2.
  • If I double-click photo #3 to go into Loupe mode, it brings up photo #2.
  • This continues as long as I use this routine.

  • To break the routine, I have to go to loupe mode to select a new photo.

This is also causing problems with editing title and caption. I’m getting data from previous photo overwriting data in new photo IF I am in grid mode.

Seems that whatever I do in grid mode applies to the previous photo I worked on in loupe view.

Whatever photo I was last on in Loupe mode is the target of whatever I do when back into grid mode.

I have closed down Lightroom and saved, tested and optimized the catalog, but it still happens.

Thanks for any help.

Try resetting the preferences.

See https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/reset-preferences.html

Method 3 is the easiest.

Thanks. I did the reset and have played around a bit. I have NOT been able to reproduce the issue yet, but I do recall that it seemed to not occur after a relaunch for a bit. So I will continue to work and see if it has truly cleared up. I appreciate the help.

Seems to be working fine. I'd have never guessed that the prefernces would affect that. Thanks.

The preferences file gets written to a lot when you use LrC, which I imagine makes it prone to corruption.

An incorrect shutdown or freeze or crash can also cause corruption.

Corrupted preferences can lead to all sorts of weird behavior.
