I'm finally retiring my old iMac that was running LR4, the iMac had a 2TB hardrive with all of the SLR raw files and LR catalugue file. With the new iMac mini is only has a 500GB SSD. What would be the best way to setup a new version of LR on the new iMac mini? Would I need to connect an external 2TB HDD (USB3/netword drive) with all the raw files on that and have the LR catalgue on the iMac min native HDD?
Once a new LR version is all setup on the new iMac mini, how easy is it to point all of the the catalogue folders on the iMac to the new HDD locations? Would I need to do this for each individual folder? Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

Yes, it would be best to move the images to an external drive and 'reconnect' them once you have Lightroom Classic running on the new Mac Mini and upgraded your catalog (I don't think it is a good idea to try to keep using the old Lightroom 4 on that new computer). Reconnecting is done at the top folder level, which reconnects the entire folder hierarchy. https://www.lightroomqueen.com/lightroom-photos-missing-fix/
