Moving photos from the grid to a specific collection

After I import photos into LRC and they are showing in the Librarygrid, I am having trouble moving them into a collection. I select the photos I want to move, then try to drag and drop them. No luck! What am I doing wrong??

Thanks,

Rhonda

Be sure you are clicking in the area where the image is displayed, not the frame around the image. Does it work that way?

And me being pedantic-  You do not actually "Move" photos to a Collection in LrC.  You can "Add" them to a a Collection (by dragging on the image as stated by @KR Seals ).

But you can "Move" photos from one Folder to another Folder.

A big difference between (Virtual) Collections and (Physical) Folders.

Just for completeness, you can also drag an image thumbnail that's in one collection, and drop it into a different collection. As when deleting an image from a Collection, as when dragging an image from its folder context into a Collection, this is only affecting what memberships this Catalog is currently granting to that image.

I think those of us who grew up with transparency slides were well trained to avoid getting fingermarks on their film emulsion surface, by always and only handling the 'slide mount' surround.

We have to learn to abandon this deeply ingrained reluctance when it comes to working inside LrC, and boldly grab onto the actual image area with our mouse pointer - as already explained!
