My catalog is several years old and tied to a hard drive that no longer exists - how to remove it?

It's been several years since I've used Lightroom classic. I no longer have the external drive the images were stored on. I'd like to remove that old catalog so I can start with a new and current one without it being cluttered by these blank images. Is there a way to remove the old catalog or the blank images in it?

I was able to remove the images, even though it gave me a message originally about not being able to find the original source and not being able to remove.  But I'm happy to say they did get removed so this issue has been resolved.
