In the people page, a name misspelled with fist letter as lower case, cannot be changed to initial capital letter.
How to reproduce:
1) Pick an unnamed face and spell it with only lower case leters and press return. The face now is shown under "named people" with only lower case letters.
2) Change the name so that it starts with upper case letters.
Expected result:
* The name should change it's initial letters to capital letters.
Actual result:
* The same misspelling is still present.

I see the same in people search mode [O]- trying to re-type the name will not change the letter case.
Because person names are saved as Keywords you can make the change in the Keyword List panel by editing the keyword.
Don't you just love those false face recognition results!- Here is my test of the problem-
1) Searched for faces with keyboard [O] this is an image result!
Typing a name ("teddy" all in lower case) (indicated in a much smaller font- which is possibly another problem!) , and like you cannot change the case in the 'named people' panel.
2) In the Keywording List panel it is possible to edit the name that will preserve the letter case.
In my test I changed "teddy" to "Teddy"-
