Hello,
If I do my capture sharpening in LR and go "edit in>> open as smart object in photoshop", do I still need to apply initial sharpening in Photoshop (ignoring the output sharpening after any resizing)?
My previous workflow was: do LR stuff and sharpening etc>> Export as tiff>> Open in PS>> Duplicate green channel, find edges and do an unsharp mask>> Layer work etc.>> Resize>> High Pass and USM sharpening (thinking of replacing this with smart sharpening instead.)
Any help is much appreciated, cheers.

Capture sharpening in Lightroom will carry over to the smart object. When you reopen the smart object in ACR the sharpening will be there.
Output sharpening should be done at the output stage, customized to the actual output format and intended use. If you're going to resize, apply sharpening after resizing! Sharpening for output should always be done at final size.
