I tried to work on getting the tether cord to work on my camera and it keeps telling me that it still detecting my camera but I can see my camera name on the import file. what is going on? I've been at this for 2 hours and no result.

The D3500 is not listed in the list of supported cameras, for tether.

You best bet is to use another tethering App and Auto-Import the files to LrC.
