note on program names as Adobe now labels them

  • Lightroom (Lr), a.k.a Lightroom Desktop, nickname Lightroom Cloudy. Not the successor  of the original Lightroom that ended at v6.14. Lr runs on your computer, uses an Album stored on the cloud, stores photos on the cloud. Less capable than Lightroom Classic.
  • Lightroom Classic (LrC),  successor of the original Lightroom that ended in v6.14 when Adobe went subscription. Runs on computer, uses a database called a Catalog, typically stores photos on computer, but they can be wherever you want.
  • Lightroom Perpetual, current nomenclature for the original pre subscription Lightroom. Ended in v6.14. Program is past end of life. Adobe no longer sells or supports the program, they no longer provide download sources for the program including the last update.

Note on Adobe Plans (subscription) as it relates to Lightroom and Lightroom Classic

  • A plan is offered for just Lightroom, the cloudy Lightroom
  • No plan is offered for just Lightroom Classic
  • The Photography plan includes Lightroom Classic. along with Photoshop, Bridge, Lightroom.
  • Once a plan is subscribed to, install and maintaining of the programs is via the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App (ACCDA). Do not be a Apple centric user and go looking for this in the Apple store. It is via Adobe.

Not an Adobe employee, most to all of your fellow community page members are just customers. Also, not an Adobe fanboy. Adobe makes lots of mistakes, for example, Lightroom ? that Lightroom Cloudy, I refer to it as Lr POS..
