I am using lightroom Classic v 13.0.1 on my Mac OS and am trying to import Nikon Z8 raw files. I do so just as I did before with my Nikon D780 and the previous LrC version and it doesn't find the photos. Apparently it only creates smart profiles and thinks the images are only on the card (which they still are) even after importing. Also, I am unable to use the denoise function. What is going on?

A screenshot of your Import Screen could be helpful. (when posting images such as screenshot into discussion, please use the Insert Photo button, instead of the Attachemnt option, REF (1) )

When you import, you should click on Copy, and then select a destination on an internal or external drive.
The Z8 camera card, which could be a CFExpress card, is often interpreted as a hard disk, and Add is allowed, but should not be used. The first time you imported with Add selected caused these problems. Copy should be used.
I now try to go back a select all photos to import using move and all but 33 are grayed out and say when I scroll over them that they have already been imported.
Yes, you imported them once but with Add which leaves the photos on the camera card. First make sure the photos are still on the camera card, and the solution in this case is to remove the photos from the Lightroom Classic Library Module, but do not discard the photos from the hard disk; and then import them properly from the camera card using Copy.
