Hello, is anyone else having an issue with Z8 uncompressed RAW in LR 12.4? For me it just does not work with frequent (OK - every time) "not responding" warnings to the extent that I bale and use Capture One. I would prefer LR but at the moment I'm forced to use C1 (30 day freebie mind) or NX Studio.
My Canon R5 RAWs are fine, it's just the Z8.
The other thing I've noticed is that the camera and lens calibration, in my case for a Z8 & 400mm F4.5 VR is not available if you run the NEF through DXO PR or the Adobe DNG. IF I can manage to see the file in the develop module the camera and lens combo does show up in LR but only if it is a NEF file not a DNG.
Any ideas?
PC wise it's runs on a Surface Book Pro, i7 16GB RAM with NVidia GeForce GTX 1060 Graphics.
Thanks, Mark

What action in LrC causes this not responding message? Please be specific and detailed.

Hi
Thanks for replying. To begin with, the Library module when you click on any Z8 NEF file (uncompressed) it's very slow to respond with frequent "not responding" messages. It's more or less impossible to do any file management as it's so slow (and as I said in my first post with R5 full resolution RAWs LR behaves absolutely fine with no lag or anything like that) it jumps between images. When using the new enchance module LR disables the Graphics GPU and then the process fails, R5 files do not, the same enchance process for either CRW or NEF in Photoshop does not fail BTW. I've set the LR cache to 50GB which I would have thought more than enough and again I've had no issues with R5 files with the cache at default settings. On a like for like basis (including the Surface Book Pro 2 Spec) my only conclusion is that at the moment LR does not like Z8 files. I would love to be proved wrong as it would make my processing an awful lot easier. Thanks, Mark

I have not seen any other complaints about Z8 files. I'm sure people are using LrC for Z8 files without these issues. There are other threads about this type of slow response for many other types of cameras, and I suggest you search for them, without regard to Z8.

Hi, I'm having the same isues, long time loading in library and develop module, but in my case using the compressed raw files (Lightroom 12.5 and Nikon raw Z8 files). I hope future versions of LR will manage this. Compared with D850 raw files its very very slow, given it's the same size

Me too! Just been doing some edits, and have Z8, D850 and Canon R6 files all together from a recent wedding. The Z8 files bring everything to a *crawl*. Zooming in can take about 3 seconds on one zoom! D850 slower than R6 but bearable.
