Offload Lightroom CLASSIC Storage

Hi friends,

I have used all of the 251GB of space I have in Lightroom Classic and am seeking to unload the data so I can continue to import photos. Unfortunately, most of my folders and the photos they contain are considered missing (folder icon is dark grey with a "?" & individual photos include a "!"). As a result, I am only able to Remove the folder from the Lightroom Catalog, not fully delete them from my disk. After unsuccessfully looking for the photos/folders on my computer I've come to the conclusion that I probably deleted them. I'm worried that if I cannot find them, I won't be able to unload the data from Lightroom Classic.

Workflow:

- Edit in LrC

- Export edited photos to computer folder

- Upload edited photos from computer folder to Apple Photos

- Move computer folder to External SSD

- Delete computer folder from computer

If you have deleted the photos from your hard disk, then of course you can delete them from LrC. This works fine, but will not clear up much disk space (if at all). If your photos are on the SSD, you can connect them to the LrC catalog via these instructions. If you are low in disk space on the internal drive, then import new photos to the external SSD straight out of the camera, without ever putting them on your internal disk.
