Open as layers in Photoshop not working after latest update

Hi,

I'm on Window up to date version.

Since Photoshop latest update I can no longer use "open as layers in Photoshop". Photoshop open the first one and then the it stops. No error messages.

Both Photoshop and Lightroom are up to date. I'v always use it with no issues and it was also very fast on my pc.

I know I can open the single files and drag/duplicate them but it is a pain and really time consuming especially when you have many pictures to focus stack.

Any help please?

Thanks a lot,

Regards,

Simona

Another try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps described here:

Preferences in Photoshop (adobe.com)

Please backup your settings before resetting the preferences. You can check:

Preferences in Photoshop (adobe.com)

Do you work with Smartpreviews? If yes, make sure, that in case you will edit the pictures in Photoshop the original file must be accessible.

Try resetting the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html

Backup your preferences prior to resetting the preferences:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/preference-file-and-other-file-locations.html

If this doesn't help we need more informations about your environment.

  • Which operating system do you use?
  • Which version of Lightroom do you use?

Please post the exact version and not only phrases as "recent", "latest" and so on.

I'm having this issue as well since the 11.3.1 update. My workflow hasn't changed, but when I select photos I want to stack in LRC, they don't open when Open as Layers in Photoshop is selected. OS X M1 Silicon. From Photoshop, I can still use the Load Files into Stack sucessfully but that is not my preferred workflow...

Can you clarify why resetting the preferences is a troubuleshooting step here?

By @jefbak

Not really. Because I don't know which values are stored in the prederences. It's possible that there's a wrong entry in one of the preference files that's responsible for such issues.

With resetting the preferences you started with the default values and in many cases the issues has gone.

Solved. After the last update to either Photoshop or OS X, Full Disk Access was revoked (unchecked) in OS X preferences. This happens a lot by the way...

Under Privacy/Full Disk Access, Photoshop is listed but unchecked. Check the box (again, this happens after updates) and all is working.
